This intriguing painting features two figures on a shore, gazing out at a dramatic seascape. On one side, a tumultuous sky looms overhead with ominous clouds, suggesting an impending storm. Below the dark clouds, the ocean appears restless, its waves crashing against a sandy beach that is littered with weathered boats and nautical debris. The beach is juxtaposed with vibrant green waters, which showcase floating elements like colorful buoys and a small boat labeled 'Hortensia'. In the background, a palm tree emerges from the ocean, offering a surreal touch amidst the foreboding atmosphere. Subtle figures surface partially from the water, enhancing the painting's mystery and depth. This evocative artwork encapsulates contrasting themes of calm and chaos, inviting viewers to ponder its narrative.
This painting would be an excellent centerpiece for a modern living room or creative workspace, adding a thought-provoking focal point that encourages conversation. Its dynamic colors and themes make it suitable for settings where artistic expression is celebrated, such as art galleries, cafes, or innovative office environments. Additionally, placing it in a reading nook can inspire creativity and reflection.
Oil on linen 120x80cm (47.3x31.5x0.8in) 2024, ready to hang.
This artwork shows a man standing on a beach. He is looking both at an island, on his right (which represents the hope for the future) and a bunch of broken ships, on his left (which represents the past). He is split between these visions, both of them characterized with some peculiar elements (the sirens, the boath with the sailor and the parachutists, which represent the menaces that the future brings, and the anchor, which represents the weight of the past, along with the broken ships). In the background, a storm is either approaching or leaving. I painted “On the shore” in an important period of my life, when many decisions were taken. I felt both the weight of the past and the fear for the uncertainity of the future, while taking them, and it was a great chance for me to think about how much they interfere with everybody’s life.
“On the shore” is a 120x80cm oil on linen artwork, stretched on a supported wooden canvas and ready to hang.
