This striking wooden sculpture features a graceful form that resembles an elongated figure reaching upward, masterfully carved from a single piece of naturally weathered wood. The surface exhibits a variety of textures, showcasing the organic grain patterns and subtle variations in color, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The smooth finish at the top contrasts beautifully with the more rugged lower section, where knots and natural imperfections add character and authenticity. Set on a simple, elegant black stone base, this piece would serve as a captivating focal point in any interior space, drawing the eye and inviting contemplation.
This sculpture is ideal for modern or minimalist interiors. It can be placed on a console table in a hallway, a coffee table in a living room, or even as a centerpiece on a dining table. Its neutral tones blend seamlessly with various color palettes, while its artistic form adds a sophisticated touch to the decor.
The sculpture "samsara V" was created from an old olive tree from Riva del Garda in Italy.
Olive wood has a very lively grain and is exceptionally hard and heavy.
In the sculpture series "samsara", Manfred deals with the perpetual cycle of being, the cycle of becoming and passing away and the cycle of rebirth in Indian religions. The artist creates something new from old, partially dead tree trunks and found objects.
The surface of the sculpture is finely sanded and oiled in the upper area.
The lower, lighter area was brushed and painted white with acrylic paint.
The base is made of Brazilian granite called "Black Cosmic".
