If Art has to be the only true form of truth and honesty, then painting is a conversation, a more or less disguised fight. Through the creative process, there’s no other way but to be honest with yourself and the artwork that is being created. |...

This striking artwork features abstract renditions of human faces entwined with vibrant natural elements. The composition is a cacophony of colors, presenting two prominently depicted faces, one seemingly in anguish while the other appears calm yet deeply expressive. Rich greens and soft yellows interlace with bold pinks and whites, represented in the form of a blooming flower that stands out amidst the chaos. The background is deliberately abstracted, evoking movement and emotion, enhancing the intense mood of the piece. This painting can be a stunning centerpiece in a contemporary living room or a striking focal point in an art gallery. It would also complement spaces dedicated to creative work, such as studios or modern offices, where inspiration and emotional exploration are encouraged. The dynamic colors and emotional depth make it suitable for environments that thrive on creativity and discussion.
From the Bodies Series, this painting was born from a commission received from a Korean indie-experimental rock band who wanted me to make the cover of their album, entitled "Human Cactus".
I had fun taking the title of the album literally and creating a character who would be a cactus man. Symbolically, it represents an individual that cannot be approached because it repels all contact with its peaks.
Human Cactus, 2021, mixed media on paper, 50 x 50 cm.
