This vibrant painting features a dynamic composition of stylized human figures, intertwined in graceful, flowing poses. The bodies are depicted in a semi-abstract manner, with soft lines and gentle curves that suggest movement and fluidity. The bold orange background contrasts strikingly with the lighter, muted colors of the figures, enhancing the sense of energy and passion in the work. Each figure is portrayed with expressive facial features, exuding a sense of emotion and life, particularly highlighted by their red lips and subtle details like the pinkish hues on the figures’ chests. The overall effect is both captivating and thought-provoking, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of connection, intimacy, and the human form.
This painting would be a stunning focal point in various interior settings, such as a modern living room, a contemporary art gallery, or an intimate study. Its bold colors and emotive figures make it suitable for spaces where creativity and passion are appreciated, such as in art studios, yoga studios, or wellness centers. Position it where it can be viewed at eye level to fully appreciate the details and emotional depth it conveys.
To give physical form to images bubbling up from the unconscious, I use my own and my friends’ bodies as a visual and visceral source. I gather my loved ones to pose with me, often in acrobatically challenging ways using circus contraptions suspended from my studio ceiling. This hands-on physical experience allows me to know in my bones the tension between gravity and the freedom of the leap, thus exploring aspects of the human condition that are particularly interesting to me: pushing against our limits; the risk of falling; the co-presence of vulnerability and strength.
