This captivating piece of art features a dynamic composition of intertwined human forms set against a rich, violet background. The figures are depicted in delicate, flowing lines that create an ethereal quality, suggestive of movement and emotion. Hints of soft pastels intermingle with bolder strokes, emphasizing the curves and contours of the bodies, while their expressive faces are enhanced by vibrant red lips. The overall feeling of the artwork is both serene and mystifying, inviting the viewer to explore the relationships and emotions captured in this intimate moment. Each figure seems to exist in a dreamlike state, connected by a web of translucent lines that symbolize deeper connections and fluidity in human experience.
This artwork would be a stunning focal point in a modern living room or an art gallery, adding a touch of sophistication and depth to the space. Its vibrant colors and emotive subject matter can inspire conversations and make an intriguing backdrop for social gatherings. Alternatively, it could enhance a contemporary bedroom, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and reflection.
I work in a mixed technique where fluid layers of acrylic and then oils interweave with outlines crisply drawn with Pierre Noire or crayon, probing the pull between control and surrender. The resulting artworks can be displayed in all directions, as their story is one of constant flux and cyclical time. I aim for a continuous quality where nothing has an endpoint, and one movement flows into the next, like a ribbon. Since every figure depicted is a real person in my life featured in multiple works created over the course of decades, I also see this imagery as an exploration of the concept of reincarnation: “Every lifetime, we meet the same circle of souls, to say thank you or to say sorry, and once again exchange our roles”.
