From my series of portraits, this painting represents an aristocratic couple sitting on a bench. I tried to infuse a notion of movement into their clothes and the backdrop that welcomes them. The woman's harsh gaze seems to suggest that she hardly appreciates being a model while the man seems weary or resigned. His checkered socks can be seen as a touch of humor that would emphasize the clichés attached to their social background.
