The works in 'Flotilla' are a meditation on the environmental threat humanity faces. As temperatures rise and the ice caps regulating our climate melt, extreme weather becomes more frequent and the precariousness of life on this planet is painfully evident. While the images reveal the shape of the boats beneath, they also bring to mind icebergs. This dichotomy - vessels that could provide escape resembling the natural objects that could destroy them - raises questions about whether impending disaster may contain the seeds of our survival, or if our attempts at mere survival might lead to destruction.
