Currently exploring the limitless possibilities of colour, form, and emotion in abstract painting, Marcus's work invites a sensory journey into introspection and discovery. Educated in Sydney and at the New York Academy of Art, Marcus has dedicated his career to honing his skills, earning a reputation for excellence. His artistic accolades include the esteemed Dame Joan Sutherland Award in 2014 and a prestigious scholarship to the New York Academy of Art in 2015. He was also a three-time consecutive finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize from 2011 to 2013. In 2015, Marcus's commitment to artistic excellence was recognized with the highly sought-after Black Swan Portrait Prize, (rebranded the Lester Prize), placing him among Australia's elite realist portrait artists. His international acclaim was further solidified by his selection as a finalist in the Art Renewal Center International Salon. In 2018, he won the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize.
