This captivating artwork presents a vibrant and stylized aerial view of an industrial landscape, prominently featuring iconic architecture. At the center, the majestic Battersea Power Station stands bold and colorful, framed by intricate outlines and energetic brush strokes that create a sense of movement and life around it. The skyline is infused with a swirl of warm colors, suggesting a fiery sunset or perhaps a dramatic evening scene, enhancing the artwork's lively atmosphere. Surrounding structures exhibit geometric patterns and dynamic colors that contrast beautifully with the solid form of the power station, capturing the essence of urban life and its architectural splendor. The entire composition is lively yet organized, making it both eye-catching and thought-provoking. This painting would serve as a stunning focal point in modern or eclectic interior spaces. It can be prominently displayed in a living room, study, or even an office to inspire creativity and conversation. The vibrant colors and energetic forms make it suitable for spaces aiming to convey innovation and urban vitality. It may also complement contemporary decor, adding a dash of artistic flair to any setting.
This work is part of the project "Twelve Months of London" concluded with a solo exhibition in London in 2017.
Each city has its very own vibe which makes it unique. Italian artist Pietro Dente captured the ‘tough’ city air of London in a series of twelve canvases. |
Diverse, ever-changing, mesmerising, welcoming and challenging at once, sometimes nonsensical and almost always addictive, London is home to millions of people from all over the world. From December 2016 to November 2017 Pietro Dente painted each month a different aerial view of the city with beautiful colour palettes reflecting various times of the year and of the day, as in a visual symphony. These urban landscapes attempt to fixate a moment in time and space while preserving the vibrancy and unattainability of the city.
Pietro Dente constructs his works on a double surface, painting the canvas as a static background of shapes and skylines while concentrating the layers of coloured details on the superposed surface of polycarbonate. This final membrane gives the artworks the threedimensional character of a modern bassorilievo and it perfectly represents the incessant activity of the city inhabitants and the intricacy of its architecture. Twelve months of London is a celebration of the UK capital as city open to all.
