This vibrant painting captures a dynamic blend of abstract shapes and colors, primarily featuring shades of blue and yellow that evoke a sense of liveliness. The composition is characterized by a series of bold lines and geometric forms, drawing the viewer's eye across the canvas. Bright reds and oranges contrast beautifully with the cooler colors, adding depth and energy to the scene. The swirling patterns and layered textures suggest movement and flow, creating an engaging visual narrative. The piece appears to encapsulate an imaginative landscape, perhaps a fantastical cityscape or a dreamlike vista, where the familiar merges with the surreal, inviting endless interpretations. This painting would be a striking addition to modern or eclectic interiors. It can enhance spaces such as living rooms, creative studios, or offices, where a touch of energy and creativity is desired. Consider displaying it above a sleek sofa or as a centerpiece in a gallery wall, ensuring it becomes a conversation starter. The bright colors and abstract nature can complement minimalist furnishings, providing a lively focal point that brightens the atmosphere.
This piece of work is inspired by the famous black water pond In Ceylon surrounded by the historical ruins of a monastery named after the pond. Centuries old stories, myths even now gives a mystical aura to the abandoned landscape and gardens the pond sits in. This painting explores the the mystical beauty of the dark pond while mapping the architectural elements of the site. The stories of the locations relate all the way back to era of Demon emperor Raavan and his abduction of SIta from India. I have been long fascinated by this monastery complex since my days as an architecture student and done many studies in terms of mapping and noting architectural planning of the site. This is my attempt at interpreting the Black Water Pond it self as the central element of the site and painting its personality as i see and feel it. The dark mulled water, yet with so much history that i feel gives character to the whole site. A conceptual interpretation.
