This striking portrait presents a young woman seated confidently in a plush chair. Her long, straight, dark brown hair contrasts beautifully with her pale complexion and soft facial features, which include a gentle expression. She wears a vibrant yellow dress that adds warmth and a cheerful contrast against the muted, pastel background. The chair, in a light purple hue, enhances the overall composition, creating a harmonious blend of colors that invites the viewer into a contemplative space. The simplified lines and stylized forms evoke an artistic flair that resonates with modern and contemporary art styles.
This painting can serve as a captivating focal point in a variety of interior spaces. Ideal for a living room, it can be accentuated with surrounding decorative elements like modern furniture or plants. It would also fit beautifully in a cozy reading nook, adding a touch of character and warmth to the space. Additionally, consider placing it in a stylish bedroom or a creative studio, where it can inspire thoughts and conversation.
I paint people; I want my paintings to have character to tell a story but without words, as if using mime. To be dramatic, emotional, sometimes theatrical but always with feelings and always special. To tell stories to be vivid, exciting, and thought-provoking with something of myself in my paintings; in the form, the colours, and the brush strokes. I want my people to have a bit of character, a little of the night about them, but above all, I want them to be unique. My inspiration comes from Claude Monet for his use of colour, his expressiveness, detail and the softness of his beautiful paintings. Vincent van Gogh for his bold use of colour and I like to think I'm a little impulsive like him, and Lowry for his simple but very sophisticated work.
