This vibrant painting captures the essence of an abstract forest, characterized by tall, slender trees presented in an arresting array of colors that evoke a rich autumn palette. The backdrop features a mix of deep greens and gentle blues, blending harmoniously to create a serene atmosphere. Vertical strokes of fiery orange and golden yellow define the trees, with intricate textures showcasing an expressive use of paint that adds depth and movement. The interplay of warm and cool tones generates a sense of dynamic energy, inviting the viewer into a tranquil space of nature's beauty. The painting incorporates hints of textural detail, suggesting an artistic narrative woven through the visual experience. Overall, the composition is eye-catching and uplifting, perfect for bringing warmth and vibrancy into any interior.

This painting would be an excellent addition to various spaces, such as a living room, dining area, or even an office space. It will enhance the ambiance with its warm colors and abstract representation of nature, creating a sense of comfort and tranquility. Placing it above a neutral-toned sofa or in a space where natural light can enhance its colors will be particularly effective.

“Where are forests hot as fire,

Wide as England, tall as a spire”

These lines of verse from R.L. Stevenson inspired Tonke Draft to write a book. I used this book as an inspiration to make this work of art.

"Even this lovely landscape, partly tamed by human hands, had something alarming about it. The ever-changing clouds and ceaseless wind seemed to make it move. The light was never the same, the shades kept changing. [...] The forests! They burned out of the frayed gray clouds - red and orange, pink and gold... [...] They waved, the trees; they beckoned."

(from "Towering and Miles Wide" by Tonke Dragt)

This colorful painting is made with acrylic on canvas with metallic details. I wrote the texts with oxidized copper and gold colored leaf metal. The changing incidence of light during the day ensures that the texts stand out more or less. This changes the painting during the course of the day.

The canvas is not stretched and will be shipped rolled in a tube. The canvas can be easily stretched by a professional framer. After stretching, the painting will be 150 x 200 cm.
