Stephanie Joanne (°1973, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio United States) creates drawings, paintings and mixed media artworks.
With Plato’s allegory of the cave in mind, I am able approach a wide scale of subjects in an intentional, multi-faceted way, which creates Artwork that generates diverse meanings. I believe in the idea of function following form in a work.
My studies in ancient civilizations, archetypes, symbolism, sacred geometry and other artistic processes, presents a cohesive body of work which has evolved as a multi-dimensional self examination, presenting personal experiences, concepts, as well as visions that reflect a sensation of indisputability and serene contemplation, combined with subtle details of odd or eccentric, humoristic elements.
The practice of art allows me to present concepts, symbolism and ideas that can only be realized in artistic presentation. Taking a conceptual approach, I leave space for the viewer to become part of the art as an intentional component. I believe that Art is capable of transcending language, borders, and archaic paradigms, revealing a profound understanding individually as well as collectively.
