It was on a trip through Brazil many years ago that I first heard the word saudade [sawˈdadʒ]. What an amazing sound, so soft and sensual. But it's not just the sound, it's also its meaning. Saudade cannot be translated with a single word, because it expresses feelings - longing, desire, nostalgia. Feelings that are supposed to be awaken in every viewer. The many layers of paint hide stories that only partially come to light. The collage of old book pages in old German script shows even more how much of the past is in this picture.
