This picture was painted at the end of April on the south coast of Ærø. It was warm and sunny.
The sea glistens in shades of blue and turquoise. In the foreground are washed up roots. A small part of a bright yellow rape field shines in the distance. The picture shows the freshness and energy of a spring day by the sea. I have captured the light impressionistically. The application of paint and the brushwork are expressionistic and powerful. The shadows cast by the vividly applied oil paints lend the picture dynamism and depth. The edges are painted. A steel cable provides a suspension. My signature is on the front.
