This striking modern sculpture features a sleek, minimalist design, comprised of a tall rectangular base made of textured white material. Rising from this base is a dynamic arrangement of interlocking cubes that appear to float and spiral upwards, crafted from polished metal. This work of art consists of many individual cubes made of stainless steel. Each cube was sawn from a 20mm shaped tube and the edges were ground. Using TIG welding, Manfred Hellweger welded the individual parts and then passivated them, creating an oxidation-resistant surface. The artist cast the base from fiber-reinforced and frost-resistant concrete, which makes this work also ideal for outdoor use. The lively wood grain was transferred to the concrete base through the specially made, brushed larch wood formwork. Similar to the sculpture series “human flow” or “human nails”, Hellweger also creates a whole from many individual parts. Each cube represents a thought, an emotion, or a feeling in a person's life.
