This stunning sculpture presents a contemporary interpretation of the human form, skillfully crafted from smooth, light-colored wood. For this work, the artist first made a model of plastilin to transfer the complex movement of the sculpture into the wood. More than 400 cubes were individually sawn from lime wood and glued together in an elaborate process. Even in this working step, Hellweger left some cubes at certain points and worked in the two secret drawers. These are almost invisible in the closed state and integrate perfectly into the sculpture. By means of a magnetic system inside, these compartments are held in place and can be opened and closed again by targeted pressure and tension. | Interior dimensions of drawers: 9,8x5,8 & 24,3x5,8 cm | The surface of the sculpture is finely ground and treated with a special oil, which prevents staining of the light wood and offers additional surface protection. The drawers were additionally sealed with a matt acrylic lacquer.
