Victor Hagea uses the means of traditional painting, both stylistically and technically. Conceptively, he goes partly towards surrealism, but wants to separate from the "fog fields of a certain way of alienation of reality". Hagea is not one of the trompe-l’oeil "is" because he only uses this type of illusionist painting as a remedy among many others.
Victor Hagea completed the high school for visual arts in Târgu Mureș. He completed his training on the academic level in Cluj at the Academy for Fine and Decorative Arts in Painting.
In January 1985, Hagea moved to Germany and between 1991 and 2004 worked as a lecturer in design, techniques, drawing and illustration. Between 2004 and 2014 he was a lecturer at the Academy for Fashion and Design in Munich.
