Sven Hartmann

Sven Hartmann was born in Bellinzona, Ticino, as the son of a Dutch mother and a Swiss father. There the foundation for his enduring love for art and the wonderful cuisine of Italy was laid. After thorough training as a window dresser in Basel, his interest shifted more to drawing. He was first met as a student and later as a teacher at the arts and crafts schools in Basel and Zurich. At the same time he gained experience in puppet making and filming. His larger-than-life figures made of corrugated cardboard, which were used in various decorations and also in theater and film, were spectacular. Sven Hartmann also developed many other characters and logos for advertising and industry. One example is the corporate identity of the Swiss homeopathy company Similasan with the two popular figures Sim and San. His great passion is drawing and painting still lifes. Every few years there are exhibitions of his atmospheric, colorful watercolor paintings in well-known galleries. And because that's not all, Sven Hartmann creates wonderful sculptures out of paper with great passion that look as if they were made of bronze. Figures that caricature types of people or beautiful harlequins that touch the heart.
